i want to live inside this film clip. girl crush zooey deschanel looks like she’s having too much fun dancing around the school block, while cute m. ward looks all broody and cute with his cute hair and shades.

michel gondry directs mia doi todd’s “open your heart”.
warning: watch on an empty stomach. might cause extreme dizziness (check out that poor fella clutching onto the stair rail at the end!)

sometimes in life the stars align and the universe gifts you with something that makes you feel blindingly happy. i’m talking about a favourite band (in this case, grizzly bear) covering a favourite song (boy from school, by hot chip) on a favourite segment on the radio (jjj’s like a version) and the result is so dang good it’s on permanent repeat in itunes. contented sigh.

ok go just keep producing such entertaining videos. this one reminds me of the monty python how not to be seen skit (not really similar at all, but made an instant brain connection when i saw the camouflaged brass players). plus, how good is it to see a single take clip being pulled off!

wowsers. two of my favourite people. together. and it’s gooooood.
this is what happens when nerds and good music collide.
i’ve just made pitchfork.com my new start page in safari. just this week i’ve had my mind blown from a couple of different directions:
1. new sufjan stevens track called ‘there’s too much love’ recorded at a recent gig in new york. sufjan, try killing me a little more. love you… CALL ME?
2. thom yorke has started a band to tour his solo stuff with. includes nigel godrich, beck/r.e.m. drummer joey waronker, multi-instrumentalist mauro refosco and red hot chili peppers bassist flea. wha-haaat???

3. you know life is good when someone goes to the trouble of turning daniel johnston’s music and artwork into an iphone app called ‘hi, how are you?’. having said that, i most likely won’t be buying it but it’s still pretty damn cool.

4. the announcement of new band, tentatively called ‘broken bells’, and featuring indie-crush james mercer from the shins and, oh-you-might-have-heard-of-him, danger mouse.

mr cornelli, i hate you for this. but there’s no denying that you’re one lucky bastard with some terribly good photo-making skills!
vinny chased radiohead on their 2009 european tour and it’s all documented on the green plastic trees website. it’s where i stole the pictures from but vinny, if you’re ever read this, can i have a life sized thom yorke for christmas, please?
