sotheby’s is auctioning john lennon’s handwritten lyrics for a day in the life. it’s one of my favourite beatles songs, and it’s where i got the title for this blog.

though even if i did have US$700,000 worth of spare change, i’m not certain i’d part with it for the manuscript…

up there is a project a friend produced so thought it worthwhile plugging here. it’s gorgeously shot and directed, features lovely music by the album leaf, and is – of course – fantastically produced! hand-painted street signage and advertising is a recurring source of inspiration in my graphic design work and it’s a shame to see it dying out.

this is the stuff of d.i.y. dreams. paris’s canal saint-martin is now home to this delightful sewing café called sweat shop. imagine sipping espressos at your worktable, pausing to feed more fabric into the singer sewing machine and share crafting tips with the other budding seamstresses nearby.
